We collaborate with our clients from the very first conversation to the end of their event (and beyond, if we’re working on a submission to a print or online magazine), to handle all of your event logistics and design elements. Our style of working in tandem ensures that your event runs seamlessly, vendors are kept in check, and your guests are well taken care of (also, did we mention that we’re super fun to work with?).
We’re available to you at anytime, for brainstorming exploratory sessions, to answer and/or research any questions that you might have, to provide updates and report back as everything slots into place, and to talk through every step for your satisfaction and peace of mind.
EVENT STYLING + DESIGN
The Pen & Anchor provides complete design, styling and décor services.
We have a keen eye for what works, visually; we love to listen to people’s stories, and we are in love with the Pacific Northwest. We truly thrive on bringing all of this together when working with our clients. We want to go beyond the boards of Pinterest and bring your tastes and experiences into the picture; bring all of the separate components together to create the overall design. We completely understand how much one can get “frazzled” when planning something that is so important to you - events sometimes take professionals to help you give them meaning and elevate their aesthetic. We are here to make your life as easy as possible – before, during and after the event.
Our approach is collaborative – both with our clients – and with the wedding and event vendors that we already have relationships in place with, some of whom are the brightest and most talented folks we know. Consistent communication with everyone working on the event, in order to adhere to budget and timeline, is a key component of our role in the overall process.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
A Starter Conversation
This can be in person or via phone or email – it’s a mental kickstarter for our creative collaboration. What are you all about? Do you have some words or images in mind that you’d like us to take a look at? Is there a poem or a song lyric or a fortune cookie that got you to where you are today – planning one of the most meaningful milestones on your timeline?
A Styling + Event Design Proposal
We’ll kick back to you a visual proposal with detailed notes, which can include as little or as much as you require. We usually include an overall arching design concept for your wedding or event, from invitations (either paper or digital) and other paper elements (programs, escort cards, name place cards, and menus), to floral design, the catering aesthetic, and various other artistic elements. We then refine this together, until we have a plan of action that we want to move forward with. Our knowledge of and relationships with knowledgeable vendors (graphic designers, letterpress printers, flower farms, etc.), both local and further afield, is a key contribution to this process.
We Hit The Ground Running
Between our agreed upon budget and proposal and the event date we act as project manager for implementing the overall design and execution of your event aesthetic. We work closely with you to put all of these elements into place, keeping you posted every step of the way.
The Moment Finally Arrives
We are on site from the minute day breaks to ensure that everything is implemented to suit the tailored vision of your event. At this point, your focus should be on enjoying the experience. Your work is done, it’s down to your support team.
Owning and operating an event venue requires 365 days of commitment and an efficient team in place. We handle event sales, vendor relations, coordination of events, property safety and security, and taking care of your clients every step of the way. Either hire us as consultants, or to run the show, and we’ll put our experience and expertise to work for you.
Since 2015 we have been working with owner Nat Small, to book, manage, and promote Red Star Barn, a historic venue at the base of the Blue Mountains, recognized for its significance in the Washington State Register of Historic Places.
